FAQ

Angle Boards

Q: Do you custom make angle boards?

A: Yes, as long as you can provide the dimensions/specifications. Being custom-built, the item would not be available for return or credit.

Document Holders

Q: I need a heavy duty document holder. What do you recommend?

A: The Ezee Copy is without a doubt the best option.

Q: What is the best position for my document holder?

A: The best position is between your keyboard and your monitor - sometimes referred to as line of sight. The top of the document holder should be just below the viewing area on your monitor and within easy reach.

Ergonomic Keyboards

Q: How do I connect a cordless keyboard?

A: A cordless keyboard will connect to any available USB port on your computer via a small transceiver. The transceiver creates a cordless link to the keyboard.

Q: How long will the batteries last on a cordless keyboard?

A: It all depends on usage and the quality of batteries. We generally estimate a minimum of 3 months with standard office use. Some models can last 12 months or more.

Ergonomic Mice

A: A cordless mouse will connect to any available USB port on your computer via a small transceiver. The transceiver creates a cordless link to the mouse.

Footrests

Q: Does ergolink supply footrests for higher benches and desks?

A: Yes, the Drafting Z-rest is designed for high benches and desks.

Q: Why is there such a large variation in prices when it comes to footrests?

A: The simple answer is quality. For heavy duty use and in most commercial/office environments we recommend the Z-rest, for moderate use you could try the SoleMate and for light or occasional use try the Standard 48121.

Forearm Supports

Q: Do I need any tools to attach an Ergorest to my desk?

A: No, for most desks you can simply tighten the handwheel to the edge of your desk. If the desk has a thick top - say 3.5cm or more - then you will need a slotted screwdriver to expand the ergorest clamp.

Q: How do I choose between a Large or Small Ergorest?

A: The Large and Small Ergorests are exactly the same width, however their length differs from 13cm for small and 20cm for large. Most men will require a Large and most women will require a small. If you have longer limbs then go with a Large. If in doubt go with a Small.

Q: Do I need any tools to attach a Forearm Support Full to my desk?

A: There is an allen key included in the clamp mounting for the Forearm Support Full

Q: Do I need any tools to attach a Forearm Support Single to my desk?

A: No, there is a single screw on the underside which is hand tightened.

Q: Do the desks arrive fully assembled?

A: Yes. Ergolink will supply and install your height adjustable desk for you unless otherwise specified eg: you may want your product flat-packed.

Q: Are there any special requirements for height adjustable desks?

A: You will require a single power outlet in the vicinity.

Q: What do I need to do to prepare for the installation of my new desk?

A: You will need to remove your existing desk or workstation and have the area clear of any furniture or obstructions. In some cases we will need to assemble the desk on site so will need a small amount of floorspace to work. Please be aware that we do not move or remove existing furniture.

Q: Does Ergolink supply office desks and workstations that are not height adjustable?

A: Yes, please call or email us for a quote on your requirements

Laptop Raisers

A: No. A docking station is generally too large and heavy to work with any of our Laptop Raisers. You can also check our Hi-Speed Docking Station product as an alternative.

Q: Do they suit all Laptops?

A: Yes, they suit almost all laptops except for the very large models. All of them will take a 15" widescreen laptop or smaller.

Monitor Risers

Q: Does ergolink sell the replacement height adjustable feet/rings for Monitor Risers?

A: No, these are not available as a spare part

Q: What height should I place my monitor at?

A: As a general rule the viewing area at the top of your screen should be at eye level.

Q: Should I use a static height monitor arm such as the Prima or gas-assisted dynamic height adjustable arm such as the 7 Flex?

A: Static height arms are suitable for most people and tend to work out cheaper. Gas-assisted arms are excellent if you like to change your posture during the day or if you share your desk with someone else.

Q: Can I build my own Prima arm?

A: Absolutely. The Prima arm can be configured to suit any single or multiple monitor configuration. Call or email us with your specific requirements.

Mouse Pads

Q: Do I really need a mouse pad?

A: Most mouse pads provide comfort more than an ergonomic benefit. A poorly designed mouse pad can actually increase the risk of pain or injury. Try to avoid a mouse pad with a high rest at the wrist position as these can create deviation and extension as well as compression of the wrist. Mouse pads with a low profile rest, flat mouse pads or mouse pads such as the Goldtouch are ideal for most users. Mouse pads can also assist in keeping your mouse within a set area. This is particularly important if you find you move your mouse way off to the right of your body creating abduction of the shoulder (or left as the case may be).

Office Chairs

Q: How do I check the correct seat length for me?

A: Ensure you are sitting back into your chair, put your feet flat on the floor (raise or lower the gas lift if you need to) and then check the distance between the front edge of your seat and the back of your knee. You should be able to place two to three fingers in this space. If you can't then the seat is too deep for you.

Q: How are chairs tested for performance, durability and safety?

A: We have a brief description of the processes involved in testing chairs by AFRDI.

Q: Do I need arms?

A: Most chairs are recommended without arms because they can limit access to your work surface and in some instances push your shoulders up. If chair arms stop you from getting close to your desk or from being able to raise to the correct height then they should be avoided. If you do need arms then choose height adjustable arms with short pads and a low height range.

Q: Are there any advantages to mesh chairs?

A: Mesh chairs do not retain heat like upholstered chairs and they allow for some nice features in the back of your chair ie: 3 dimensional lumbar adjustability. The drawback of mesh can be that it's not very forgiving and hence the comfort level is not quite what you'd expect from an upholstered chair.

Q: Can I choose any fabric for my chair?

A: You can choose almost any commercial fabric on the market, however there are some repercussions to doing so. Firstly, your quoted price will increase and secondly, your ETA will change to around 4 weeks.

Q: Does Ergolink supply replacement castors and glides?

A: Yes

Q: I have a hard floor. Is there any type of castor I can use to suit?

A: Yes, we supply all types of hard and soft tyred castors to suit office chairs.

Q: Is there such a thing as braking castor?

A: Yes, we supply them on request. There are three types:

1) Indiviual locking castors, where each castor is locked by a small button.

2) Loaded Braking Castors, where the castors brake when you are sitting on the chair.

3) Unloaded Braking Castors, where the castors brake when you take your weight off the chair.

Q: How do I operate/reset the ratchet back on my chair?

1) Place both hands behind you - just on the underside of your chair back and pull in an upwards motion. You should be moving the back to its highest position.

2) Now that the back is in its highest position, push down all the way until you hear a click.

3) Now slowly pull the back in an upwards motion - one click at a time - to the deisred height.

Q: How do these attach to your monitor?

A: Call or email Ergolink and we'll guide you through the measurement process and work out a suitable model.

Touchpads

Q: Does my computer need anything special to connect a touchpad?

A: No, touchpads run the same way as a standard mouse. Your computer only needs a USB port.

Trackballs

Q: Does my computer need anything special to connect a trackball?

A: No, trackballs run the same way as a standard mouse. Your computer only needs a USB port.

Wrist Rests

Q: Do I really need a wrist rest for my keyboard?

A: Most wrist rests provide comfort more than an ergonomic benefit. A poorly designed wrist rest can actually increase the risk of pain or injury. Try to avoid a wrist rest that is too high or too deep as these can create wrist extension as well as compression of the wrist. Wrist rests with a low profile are best.
